Stocks Going Ex Dividend the First Week of December

Here is our latest update on the stock trading technique called 'Buying Dividends,' also commonly referred to as 'Dividend Capture.' This is the process of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend. This technique generally works only in bull markets, and can work in flat or choppy markets, but you need to avoid the technique during bear markets.

In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can't sell the stock until after the ex date. The actual dividend may not be paid for another few weeks. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable and sortable list of the stocks going ex dividend in the near future. The list contains many dividend paying companies, lots with market caps over $500 million, and yields over 2%. Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the ex-dividend date, and the yield.

Will Someone Buy Me a Drone Stock for Christmas?

Drones Will Soon Change The Way Of Doing Business

Drones are a technological advancement that have been making headlines recently. Typically, it has been for all the wrong reasons. They have been spotted flying too close to airports, and they have been caught smuggling drugs into prisons. They have even been used to spy on neighbors sunning in their backyard. When used in the right form, drones are a wonderful form of technology. They are helping businesses to make great strides and stay ahead of the competition.

Drones may soon be used by businesses that provide goods to customers. They'll be able to deliver customer's packages right to their very own doorstep! This will greatly change the world of home deliveries. No longer will customers have to go through the hassle of picking their goods up from a store. No longer will customers have to wait for delivery personnel to drop off their packages. This in turn will make customers happier. A happier customer means a happier business. Drones will also be able to cut costs in the long run. One reason they are cost-effective is because they will accomplish deliveries quicker than anything else has previously.

This form of technology will also be used by oil and gas companies. It will allow companies to do routine inspections. The drone will also be able to do surveying for a variety of other businesses. All in all, these will work to make the lives of businesses easier.

Currently, drones are available for recreational use. There are several rules that a person must abide by, however. They cannot be flown in close proximity to an airport. They also can only be flown in the daylight hours.

Right now, it's a waiting game until the FAA comes out with their final list of rules. Businesses can get a jump start by applying for a certificate and an exemption in hopes to start testing out their technology earlier than others. The upcoming Federal Aviation Administration rules that are planned will put stricter requirements on them than those used for personal use, for safety reasons obviously.

So how does an investor take a flyer on a drone stock that won't crash and burn? One of the purest plays in the drone industry is AeroVironment (AVAV), which produced the Pointer drone in 1987, considered to be the first small unmanned aircraft system, also referred to as a UAS, unmanned aerial vehicle, and UAV, for military use. The company now makes severals UASs, including the Puma, Raven, Wasp, and Shrike, for business and governmental use.

AeroVironment is currently generating negative earnings and trades at an stratospheric 82 times forward earnings. However, the company does have a couple things going for it. First of all, it is debt free. Second, the company is sitting on $9.48 in cash per share.

Another way to play the drone market, although in a small way, is Amazon (AMZN),  which is involved in drones two different ways. It is developing Amazon Prime Air in several countries, which will provide 30 minute delivery services using small drones.

In addition, Amazon actually sells drones to the consumer. (Here's an idea. If I order a drone from Amazon, will a drone deliver my drone?) For example, if you want to go high end, you could order the DJI Inspire 1 Transforming Single Control Quadcopter With 4K Camera RTF which retails for $3,615.
Or maybe, you want to experiment with a more reasonably prices UAV. One of the company's best sellers is the UDI Axis Gyro RC Quadcopter.
Another popular one is the Syma Explorers Axis Gyro RC Quadcopter.

Amazon also has nosebleed level ratios, with the P/E at 965 and a forward P/E at 119. Revenues for the latest quarter were up 23%, year over year.

There are actually over a dozen stocks involved in drones and UAVs in some way or another. A free list of the drone stocks is available at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com. Anyway, with three major markets for this product, business, military, and consumer, the drone business has nowhere to go but up.

Disclosure: Author owns AMZN.

Low Debt/No Debt Stocks Selling Below Cash per Share

One of my favorite screens for stocks are the ones that are debt free. It's hard to go out of business when a company has no debt. If you can find a debt free company selling below book value (the value of the stock if the company goes out of business today, everything the company owns is sold off, and the company liquidates, with distributions to all shareholders), then it is very hard to go out of business.

And if the company has no debt and is selling below its cash per share, then it is extremely difficult to go out of business. Management would have to be spending money like a drunken sailer for that to happen (or the company could have reported fictitious numbers e.g. Enron).

So I take notice when I find stocks with no debt or very little debt and selling below cash per share. The cash per share is basically all the company's cash on hand and cash equivalents, divided by the number of shares of the company. If the company went out of business immediately, couldn't sell off any of its equipment, real estate, inventory, or other assets, and had cash per share to distribute to shareholders that exceeded the price of the stock currently, then a profit is almost guaranteed.

One example is Payment Data Systems (PYDS), a provider of integrated electronic payment processing services. The stock closed at 2.35 per share on Friday, yet has 5.40 per share in cash, a 3.05 discount to cash, or on a percentage basis, a 56.5% discount. The company trades at six times cash flow, and has a reasonable price to sales ratio of 1.78.

Another example is Emerson Radio (MSN), a marketer of houseware and consumer electronic products. The stock is trading at 1.04 per share on Friday, yet has 1.78 per share in cash, a 41.6% discount to cash per share. The company has a price to earnings ratio of 20.8, and an extremely favorable price to sales ratio of 0.43.

For a list of a dozen stocks that are trading below cash and are debt free or almost debt free, go to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com. Keep in mind that most of these stocks are very low cap, and low priced, so therefore are very speculative.

Top 9 Stocks Under $10 per Share

Investors seem to love low priced stocks, due to the fact that perceived potential gains from price movements appear to be higher than high priced stocks. After all, a ten cent rise on a one dollar stock is 10%, ten cent gain on a $10 stock is only 1%, and an increase of 10 cents on a hundred dollar stock is only one tenth of a percent.

The fact is that high priced stocks can move just as much on a percentage basis as low priced stocks. Yet investors still want the low prices.

When looking for quality low priced stocks to buy, investors generally look for several factors from a fundamental standpoint. They are:

1. The stock sells for less than $10 per share.
2. The stock has a price to earnings ratio under 20.
3. The stock has a forward P/E ratio less than 20.
4. The stock has a price to earnings growth ratio under 2.
5. The stock has no debt or low debt to equity.
6. And to top it off, the stock pays a dividend.

The following nine stocks have all these features, and deserve a closer look.

Company Ticker Market Cap P/E Price Yield
Crown Crafts, Inc. CRWS     84.90M 14.39 8.49 3.80%
Digirad Corporation DRAD  104.87M 4.91 5.40 3.40%
Evolving Systems Inc. EVOL    63.13M 16.88 5.40 8.10%
Heritage Oaks Bancorp HEOP  291.72M 18.06 8.49 2.90%
Leju Holdings Limited LEJU  781.03M 14.50 5.80 13.30%
Magic Software Enterprises Ltd. MGIC  256.79M 16.23 5.68 3.30%
MiX Telematics Limited MIXT  168.00M 11.98 5.03 3.70%
Pzena Investment Management PZN  638.03M 18.96 9.67 1.30%
Supreme Industries Inc. STS  129.91M 12.53 7.77 1.50%

What is interesting is that all these little gems have yields in excess of 1.25%. Keep in mind that the market cap on these companies is low. If you like interesting stock lists like this, check out many of the free stock lists at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.
