NY State Attempting to Tax Amazon Online Sales

The state of New York is attempting to charge sales tax on online sales to state residents, especially sales from Amazon.com (AMZN). which trades on NASDAQ, in spite of the seven year Federal moratorium on Interstate taxation. The states justification is supposedly the fact that there are Amazon Associates in New York State.

Steve Forbes wrote an outstanding editorial on this outrageous taxation attempt. Pick up the December 10, 2007 issue of Forbes and check it out. Better yet, get yourself a subscription to Forbes like I have for the last couple decades.

If the libertariotechos in New York are in any way similar to the libertariotechos in Silicon Valley, this tax will never, ever pass.

Libertariotechos is a word that I just made up which describes a person who works in the field of technology who has strong libertarian anti-tax leanings.
