Employees at Goldman Sachs (GS) received on average of $700,000 each in bonuses for the third quarter of 2009. Although this may seem high, Michelle Leder at footnoted.org discovered that when measured by the
“ratio of compensation and benefits to net revenues”, the payouts are actually quite low compared to other companies, such as Cowen (COWN) and Lazard (LAZ), both of which have much higher ratios.
