Last week, when a customer of SunTrust Bank (STI) checked the balance of his checking account, he discovered that his account had been boosted to $88,888,888,888.88. The number eight is considered a lucky number in Asian cultures and this customer had that lucky number appear in his balance number 13 times.
Unfortunately, the amount was reversed the following day. The bank wouldn't even let the customer transfer the funds to a savings account, to earn interest for a day.
