Book Review: The Power Broker by Stephen Frey

If you want to read a riveting novel with about seven plots and several sub-plots that is investment related, you should check out Stephen Frey's The Power Broker: A Novel. The book is about a manager of an extremely large equity fund, a bizarre secret organization of businessmen, an unexpected SEC investigation of a portfolio company, the Las Vegas mob, a new NFL franchise, and most interestingly, the Democratic nomination of an African American for president.

The book is copyrighted 2006, which means that it may have been written in 2005 and 2006, but definitely 2006 at the latest. Barack Obama didn't even announce his candidacy until February 10, 2007. Did Stephen Frey have a premonition? Anyway, The Power Broker is a great read.

You might also want to check out the review of one of Stephen Frey's other books, The Day Trader.
