Michael Lewis has come out with a new book, Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt. In case you don't remember, Lewis was the author of The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine and Liar's Poker.
What a timely book. Last Sunday, 60 Minutes ran a feature on high frequency trading, which is one of the main topics of Lewis's book. The book is primarily about Brad Katsuyama, a former trader at the Royal Bank of Canada, who realized that his firm was losing huge amounts of money to high frequency traders, and decided to do something about it.
Lewis has a way of making complicated subjects, such as high frequency trading and algorithmic trading, fairly easy to understand. I consider this book a 'non-fiction page turner.'
If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend you read Flash
Boys: A Wall Street Revolt.
