Check Out Real Estate in Your Metro Area

Zillow.com, my favorite real estate website [you can look up the values of the homes of your friends and neighbors, you don't have to log in or provide personal information, and it's FREE], now has spreadsheets that you can either open or download for 75 different metropolitan areas, everywhere from Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, PA, to Columbus, OH. to Fort Walton Beach, FL, to Seattle-Tacoma-Bremerton, WA.

I checked out the one for the Los Angeles-Riverside-Orange County, CA. [It took my computer a couple minutes to open.] It is up to date through the end of 2006. It shows the latest quarter values of the previous quarter, and the latest quarter of the year over the same quarter one year ago. It shows summaries by the metropolitan area, by county, by city and by neighborhood [each spreadsheet on a different tab]. It also shows histories going back eight quarters. They even have a USA Summary Report. Overall, real estate was down about half a percent for the quarter year over year and down over 4.7% quarter over quarter.
