Wake Up to the Smell of Coffee Stocks: Tommorow [Thursday] is Coffee Day

Do you know why tomorrow is coffee day? All of the big three coffee companies are reporting their earnings tomorrow [Thursday, May 3]. Maybe by the time you read this, some will already have reported. Surprisingly, today an article appeared from Reuters regarding the health benefits of coffee. The article mentioned that coffee may protect against certain types of colon cancer, as well as rectal and liver cancer. Several of the following stocks are small caps and therefore very risky. However, the big three that are reporting tomorrow all have caps over $350 million.

Caribou Coffee Company, Inc. (CBOU), This Minnesota company operates gourmet coffeehouses throughout the United States. They have negative earnings, and a Price Sales Ratio of .56.

Coffee Pacifica, Inc. (CFPC.OB), This Henderson, Nevada based company is a distributor and marketer of green bean coffee grown in Papua New Guinea. They have negative earnings, and their P/S is 16.9.

Coffee Holding Co.Inc. (JVA) This New York based wholesale coffee roaster and dealer trades on the American Stock Exchange. It has a P/E of 47 and a P/S of .47. They recently approved a buyback with the repurchase of up to 5 percent of the company's common stock.

Diedrich Coffee Inc. (DDRX) This Irvine, California based company is a roaster, wholesaler and retailer of coffee products. The stock has had negative earnings although their Net Income From Continuing Operations for the latest quarter showed a profit. They have a P/S of .33.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR) This is one of the "bigger' companies, having a market cap of over $500 million. This Vermont company roasts, distributes, and sells coffee products in the Northeast. Their current P/E is 66, their P/S is 1.9 and there PEG is 2.4. They are reporting earnings tomorrow (Thursday).

Peet's Coffee & Tea Inc. (PEET) This Emeryville, California based company roasts and markets roasted whole bean coffee throughout the United States. They have a forward P/E of 31, a P/S of 1.7, and a PEG of 2.3. They are also reporting earnings tomorrow.

Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) This Seattle, Washington company roasts and markets whole bean coffees through over 13,000 stores throughout the world. This is the third reporter of earnings tomorrow. Their P/E is 41.5 with a forward P/E of 29, their P/s is 2.8, and their PEG is 1.5.
