Stocks Going Ex Dividend in June 2021

Please note that this is a sister publication of WallStreetNewsNetwork ( https://WStNN.com ) and postings will end on this site shortly.

The following is a short list of some of the many stocks going ex dividend during the next month.

Many traders and investors use the stock trading technique called ‘Buying Dividends,’ also commonly referred to as ‘Dividend Capture.’ This is the strategy of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend.

This technique generally works in bull markets and flat or choppy markets, but you need to avoid the strategy during bear markets. In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can’t sell the stock until after the ex date.

The actual dividend may not be paid for another few weeks. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable and sortable list of the stocks going ex dividend in the near future. The list contains many dividend paying companies, lots with market caps over $500 million, and some with yields over 2%. Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the ex-dividend date, the periodic dividend amount.

HP Inc. (HPQ)6/8/20210.1942.60%
MGM Resorts International (MGM)6/9/20210.0020.02%
Merck & Company, Inc. (MRK)6/14/20210.653.43%
Best Buy Co., Inc. (BBY)6/16/20210.702.37%
Dillard’s, Inc. (DDS)6/29/20210.150.44%
Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. (KDP)6/30/20210.1882.02%

The additional ex-dividend stocks can be found HERE . (If you have been to the page before, and the latest link doesn’t show up, you may have to empty your cache.) If you like dividend stocks, you should check out some of the other high yield stock lists at WSTNN.com HERE .

Dividend definitions:

Declaration date: the day that the company declares that there is going to be an upcoming dividend.

Ex-dividend date: the day on which if you buy the stock, you would not be entitled to that particular dividend; or the first day on which a shareholder can sell the shares and still be entitled to the dividend.

Record date: the day when you must be on the company’s books as a shareholder to receive the dividend. The ex-dividend date is normally set for stocks at two business days before the record date.

Payment date: the day on which the dividend payment is actually made, which can be as long at two months after the ex date.

Don’t forget to reconfirm the ex-dividend date with the company before implementing this technique.

Stock traders are always looking for catalysts that will make a stock move, either to the upside or the downside. One big catalyst is an earnings announcement which greatly exceeds or under-achieves guidance and analysts expectations.

Apple (AAPL) April 27
Bristol-Meyers Squibb (BMY) April 28
Boston Scientific (BSX) April 28
Celgene (CELG) April 30
Chevron (CVX) May 1
ConcocPhillips (COP) April 30
Exxon Mobil (XOM) April 30
Gilead Sciences (GILD) April 30
Merck (MRK) April 28
Pfizer (PFE) April 28

Of course, there are many other companies reporting earnings next week; this is a selection of the major ones.

Transition to Safer Stocks: Will Big Pharmaceuticals Make You Financially Healthy

Have you noticed in the last several days of this volatile market, when many of the mid cap and small cap stocks were tanking, the blue chip stocks, such as AT&T (T) and Merck (MRK) went up? Investors are getting worried and nervous, and when that happens, they move their money cash and more conservative stocks, generally stocks that pay dividends. The dividends help to reduce volatility and return the investment capital back faster.

Two years ago, I suggested big pharmaceutical stocks as a contrarian play as big pharma stocks were down almost 2% during the first few months of 2012, whereas the S & P 500 was up about 9% during that same time frame. The suggestions included Johnson &  Johnson (JNJ), which has risen by almost 50% in the last couple years, and Merck (MRK), which has gone up by about 44%, both far outperforming the S & P 500, which went up around 31%.

These pharmaceutical stocks are still worth a second look, especially for long term investors. According to the free list of high yield big pharmaceutical stocks at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there over a dozen pharmaceutical stocks and more than half with yields of 3.0% or more.

Merck (MRK), is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. This is the company that makes such products as Gardasil, Singular, Levitra, Nasonex, Claritin, Clarinex, Coppertone, MiraLax, and Bain de Soleil. The stock trades at 38 times trailing earnings and 15 times forward earnings.   The stock pays a healthy yield of 3.2%.

Johnson &  Johnson (JNJ), founded in 1886, is considered to be the world's largest pharma company. It is a manufacturer of pharmaceutical, medical devices and consumer packaged goods. Products include Band-Aids, Acuvue, Listerine, OneTouch Blood Glucose Meter, Splenda, and Tylenol. The stock has a trailing price to earnings ratio of 20 and a forward PE ratio of 16, with a generous yield of 2.8%.

Big Pharma: A High Yield Contrarian Play

If you look at the index of big pharmaceutical stocks and compare it to the Standard and Poor's 500, you will notice that pharma was down almost 2% year-to-date, whereas the S&P 500 was up about 9% from the beginning of the year. Are these companies being ignored? Are concerns about the patent expiration issues being overdone? Although several of these stocks have had risen over the last year or so, contrarians may want to take a closer look at some of them, especially due to the high yields.

The other reason for looking at dividend stocks in the health care sector is the Baby Boomer growth. This is especially true for long term investors. Based on the free list of high yield big pharmaceutical stocks at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there are ten pharmaceutical stocks with yields of 4.0% or more, with two stocks paying more than 5%. One example is GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK), the third largest pharmaceutical company in the world by revenues, after Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Pfizer (PFE). Glaxo's products include Aquafresh, Boniva, Dexedrine, Levitra, Nicoderm, Nicorette, Sensodyne, Tums, and Valtrex. The stock pays a generous yield of 5.8% payable quarterly. It trades at 11.6 times forward earnings.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), the world's largest pharma company, is a manufacturer of pharmaceutical, medical devices and consumer packaged goods. The company, which was founded in 1886, yields 3.6% and has a forward price to earnings ratio of 11.7.

Merck & Co., Inc. (MRK), another big pharmaceutical, yields 4.2% and trades at 10.2 times forward earnings. This is the company that makes such products as Levitra, Nasonex, Claritin, Clarinex, Coppertone, and Bain de Soleil. They even make Antivenin for the treatment of black widow spider bites.

High Yield Birth Control Stocks

An Institute of Medicine medical advisory panel recently recommended to the Health and Human Services Department that contraception should qualify as preventive care. Since insurers must fully cover the cost of preventative care under the new health care law, then everyone would have access to free birth control. No decision has been made yet by the Obama administration.

Income investors who believe that birth control is a growing business have plenty of dividend paying stocks to choose from. Here are some companies involved in birth control, some in a small way, some in a large way.

Merck (MRK) is the manufacturer of the NuvaRing, a combined hormonal contraceptive vaginal ring available by prescription and Implanon, a single-rod long acting reversible hormonal contraceptive birth control subdermal implant that is inserted just under the skin of the upper arm. The stock has a nice yield of 4.2%, and a forward PE of 9.1.

Pfizer Incorporated (PFE) makes Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection which is injected every 3 months. The company also market birth control pills. The stock carries a CD beating 4.0% yield with a forward PE of 8.5.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) owns Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, which makes diaphragms, and the combined oral contraceptive pill brands Ortho Tri-cyclen and Ortho-Evra. It trades at 12.3 times forward earnings and provides a yield of 3.4%.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (TEVA) produces various pharmaceuticals including women's health care products, oral contraceptives, and intrauterine contraception. The company owns Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which owns Duramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which makes the ParaGard T-380A, a copper-T IUD, the only copper-containing intrauterine device approved for use in the U.S. The stock trades at 8.3 times forward earnings and pays a yield of 1.7%.

Church & Dwight Co., Inc. (CHD), producer of household, personal care, and specialty products, is probably most known for it Arm & Hammer baking soda product. The company makes and markets the Trojan brands of prophylactics. In addition to condoms, it also produces home pregnancy kits. The stock sports a forward price to earnings ratio of 16.9, with a 0.8% yield.

High Yield Big Pharmaceutical Stocks

Between 1945 and 1964, seventy-six million American babies were born, making up what is now known as the Baby Boomers. The Boomers buy 77% of all prescription drugs and 61% of over-the-counter medications.

Many income investors are looking for dividend stocks in the health care sector due to the increasing age of the Baby Boomers and their parents. These include the major drug manufacturers, the generic drug manufacturers, diagnostic companies, healthcare plans, hospitals, medical appliances, medical instruments, and medical laboratories.

Based on the free list of high yield big pharmaceutical stocks at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there are ten pharmaceutical stocks with yields of 1.5% or more, with two stocks paying more than 5%. One example is GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK), the third largest pharmaceutical company in the world by revenues, after Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Pfizer(PFE). Glaxo's products include Aquafresh, Boniva, Dexedrine, Levitra, Nicoderm, Nicorette, Sensodyne, Tums, and Valtrex. The stock pays a generous yield of 5.1% payable quarterly. It trades at 10.5 times forward earnings. Although sales were down for the latest quarter, earnings were up 13.8% year over year.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), the world's largest pharma company, is a manufacturer of pharmaceutical, medical devices and consumer packaged goods. The company, which was founded in 1886, yields 3.4% and has a forward price to earnings ratio of 12.4. Revenues for the latest quarter were up 3.4% but earnings were down 23.2%.

Merck & Co., Inc. (MRK), another big pharmaceutical, yields 4.2% and trades at 9.1 times forward earnings. Earnings for the latest quarter were up almost 250% on flat revenues.

However, it is still a very commonly tracked, reported and watched index. Have you wondered what the highest yielding stocks of the 30 stocks in the Dow are? Look no further. It is interesting to note, in the interest of full disclosure, that I own three out of the four.

Male Menopause: Another Treatment for Pharmaceutical Companies

The Washington Post came out with a long article today about how researchers, doctors, and drug companies are looking at something new to treat: male menopause, or as the article describes it, 'manopause'. There will always be a new and different condition that will require some sort of cure or treatment. I'm looking for a treatment for 'acute poor trading syndrome.'

But seriously, the big pharmas have plenty of drugs in the pipeline. And while you are wating for the bid payoff, you can always receive a dividend, as according to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there are about ten high yield big pharmaceutical stocks, and half of them have yields over 3%.

Eli Lilly & Co. (LLY) trades at eight times forward earnings and sports an extremely generous yield of 5.4%. Earnings were up 16% for the latest quarter and the company's next earnings announcement will be October 21.

Merck & Co., Inc. (MRK) trades at around nine times forward earnings and pays a yield of 4.1%. Earnings were down over 51% for the latest quarter, however, revenues almost doubled. Latest earnings announcement will be October 29.

Stocks Going Ex Dividend During the First Week of September

The stock trading technique called 'Buying Dividends' is becoming more and more popular. It is the process of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend. This technique generally works only in bull markets.

When you buy dividends, there are many stocks in many different sectors to choose from. In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can't sell the stock until after the ex date.
