South Korean police are investigating why a man was found dead with a melted cell phone in his left chest pocket, chest burns, and fractured bones. He also had significant heart damage. An AP report said that the phone was made by LG Electronics (LGERF.PK), which occasionally trades on the Pink Sheets in the United States.
Earlier this year, a man in China purportedly died when an exploding cell phone blew up in his chest pocket, according to a Chinese news report. The phone was made by Motorola (MOT), which trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
In both cases, the companies denied that the phone caused the deaths.
Makes you think twice about keeping your cell phone in your pants pocket!
