Debt Free Stocks Selling Below Cash

If you are looking for a safe stock, a company that has no debt and has shares trading below the cash per share, you can't get a better deal than that. It means that if the company goes out of business immediately and all assets are distributed to the investors, the investors would each receive more than the current price per share. You can't get a better safety floor than that.

Why would a stock sell for less than cash? There could be several reasons. The company may have recently announced terrible earnings which drove the stock pice down farther than it normally would have fallen. The stock may have been hit hard due to tax selling. Tax selling is when investors sell shares before year end that are currently at a huge loss, in order to get the tax benefits of generating a capital loss for the current year.

So are there really such companies who's stocks sell for less than cash? Yes, there are several. Here are a few examples.

Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals (CYCC) is a biopharmaceutical company developing mechanism targeted drugs to treat cancer. The company is debt free and $26.8 million in cash, amounting to $1.17 in cash per share, whereas the stock is trading for 70 cents per share. Revenues for the latest quarter were up 137.9%.

Delcath Systems (DCTH) is a specialty pharmaceutical and medical device company, which is debt free with $23 million in cash. The cash per share is $2.47 with a stock price of $1.35. Revenues for the latest quarter were up ober 201%.

Deswell Industries (DSWL) makes injection molded plastic parts and electronic products. The stock has over $40 million in cash with no debt. Cash per shares is $2.51 with a stock price of $1.89.

Hopefully one of the debt free stocks with lots of cash will make you debt free with lots of cash.

Stock Market Christmas Poem 2014

Stock Market Christmas Poem 2014

T'was the night before Christmas
And all through the street
Not one stock was rising
None beat a retreat

The market's been up
Three years in a row
Over this time
We've made lots of dough

Will this continue?
Will our money grow?
Until next year is over
We'll never know

300 companies
Went public this year
Alibaba and others
Brought holiday cheer

The best is in store
The future looks bright
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night

Stocks Going Ex Dividend the Fifth Week of December

Here is our latest update on the stock trading technique called 'Buying Dividends,' also commonly referred to as 'Dividend Capture.' This is the process of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend. This technique generally works only in bull markets, and can work in flat or choppy markets, but you need to avoid the technique during bear markets.

In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can't sell the stock until after the ex date. The actual dividend may not be paid for another few weeks. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable and sortable list of the stocks going ex dividend in the near future. The list contains many dividend paying companies, lots with market caps over $500 million, and yields over 2%. Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the ex-dividend date, and the yield.

Two High Yield Stocks Under $5 a Share

Everybody likes a deal. And many investors think that low priced stocks are bargains. They can be but not always. When looking at low price stocks, there are several factors you want to look for. Here is the list:

1. Generating earnings
2. Decent earnings growth
3. Low or no debt
4. Preferably paying dividends
5.  Preferably dividends paid at least quarterly

Here are two companies fitting both of those categories.

National American University Holding (NAUH), which is currently trading for less than $3 a share, owns and operates National American University. Many of these education companies have been hit hard over the last few years and NAUH is one of them. Maybe it's time for a rebound.

The stock trades at 12 times trailing earnings and 13 times forward earnings. The price earnings to growth ratio is a very favorable 0.84. Plus the stock trades at an excellent 0.58 times sales. The company pays a very healthy yield of 5.9%, and the payouts are made quarterly.

Nevsun Resources (NSU) is in the business of exploring for and developing gold, silver, copper, and zinc mineral properties. The stock, which is less than $4 a share, has a trailing price to earnings ratio of 11 and a forward PE of 8.

The PEG ratio is an outstanding 0.27 and the price sales ratio is a reasonable 1.83. The dividend is paid quarterly and the stock yields 3.7%.

With financials in place like this, there is very little downside and plenty of upside. If you like lists like this, check out the stock lists at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.

Easing of Commerce and Travel Restrictions with Cuba: Top Cuban Stocks

Habana Lonja del Commercio
Stock Exchange
President Obama is speaking today about the easing of commerce and travel restrictions with Cuba, and re-establish diplomatic relations with the country. This came about after the freeing of Alan Gross, an American contractor after being imprisoned for five years.

Americans will be allowed to travel to Cuba and use credit and debit cards there. They will also be allowed to open accounts with Cuban institutions. In addition, an American Embassy will be set up there.

It will be interesting to see which American companies jump on the bandwagon and set up operations there. If you are looking for stocks of companies that already have a foothold in Cuba, there are a few companies that have Cuban connections, according to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.

The best way of investing in Cuba on a diversified basis is through the Herzfeld Caribbean Basin Fund Inc. (CUBA). It is a closed end fund which is a diversified way of playing the Cuba economy. It invests in stocks of the Caribbean Basin Countries and the United States, which are expected to benefit from economic growth in Cuba, Jamaica, the Bahamas and other countries. The CEF is up 42% today.

Sherritt International (SHERF) is a Toronto, Ontario based mining, and oil, and gas company that is one of the largest foreign investors in Cuba, having more business in Cuba than any other Canadian company. A major portion of their revenues are generated by the Moa Mine in Cuba, formerly owned by Freeport-McMoRan (FCX), as a joint venture with a Cuban government company. They also operate Varadero, Canasí, Yumuri, Puetro Escondido oil and gas fields which they have leased in Cuba. In addition, Sherritt owns, Energas, the Cuban electric utility. The stock trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada and on the Pink Sheets in the United States. The stock yields 5.9%..

There may be more cruise travel to Cuba. So companies such as Carnival Corp. (CCL), and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) should also benefit. Carnival yields 2.3% and Royal Caribbean pays a yield of 1.5%.

For a list of several Cuba related stocks, which has information on the PE ratio, the forward PE, the PEG, and the yield, go to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.
