Over 45 Stocks Going Ex Dividend the Second Week of September

Here is our latest update on the stock trading technique called 'Buying Dividends'. This is the process of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend. This technique generally works only in bull markets. In flat or choppy markets, you have to be extremely careful, and may need to avoid the technique during those times.

In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can't sell the stock until after the ex date. The actual dividend may not be paid for another few weeks. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable and sortable list of the stocks going ex dividend during the next week or two. The list contains many dividend paying companies, all with market caps over $500 million, and yields over 2%. Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the ex-dividend date, the yield, and the market capitalization.

Will I Ever Stop Writing About Chocolate Stocks?

It seems like every two or three months, a group of researchers or scientists comes up with another health benefit from eating chocolate. So far, I've written about how chocolate can help with the following:

reduce wrinkles

stop coughing

improve brain function

improve visual function

keep you slim

reduce the risk of heart failure in women

fights aging

alternative fuel for a car

good for your liver

Now research was recently released by Cochrane Collaborations showed that based on numerous studies, people who eat dark chocolate every day may have reduced blood pressure. Since chocolate can practically be considered a health food, there are several companies that can take advantage of the demand for this food product. There are over a dozen chocolate and candy stocks listed at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, and over half a dozen pay dividends.

A perfect example is Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (RMCF), based in Durango, Colorado, makes and markets caramels, creams, mints, and truffles. The company, founded in 1981, has over 300 franchise locations in 40 states, plus Canada and the United Arab Emirates. The stock trades at 20 times forward earnings, and the company pays a delicious yield of 3.7%. For the latest reported quarter, total revenues increased 11.8 percent, and earnings rose by 15.5%.

Did you ever eat Hershey Bars as a kid? Hershey (HSY) is the famous chocolate company, founded in 1894. It is the largest manufacturer of chocolate in North America and one of the largest chocolate and candy companies in the world. It is famous for its Hershey's Kisses which were invented in 1901 and the chocolate chips that were released in 1928. The stock has forward price to earnings ratio of 24.7, with a tasty yield of 2.1%.

Another large chocolate producer is Nestle (NSRGY), which sports a forward P/E of 20.5. This Swiss chocolate manufacturer was founded in 1867. The company pays dividends annually and has increased dividends in ten out of the last eleven years. The current yield is 3.4%.

If you want to see a free list of all the publicly traded chocolate and candy stocks, go to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com. The list, which includes several companies that pay dividends, can be downloaded, updated, and sorted.

Gold Stocks are Down, Gold and Yields are Up, Time to Buy the Stocks?

Did you know that a couple years ago that there were only nine gold mining stocks with yields of 1% or more? Now there are twice that number with ten gold stocks with yields above 2%. Look at the price of gold versus gold stocks.

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (FCX) is a perfect example from the recently updated list of high yield gold mining stocks at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com. Since the beginning of 2011, the stock has dropped about 40%. Because of the drop in the stock price and an increase in the dividend back in April from 25 cents per quarter to31.3 cents, the yield has gone for 1.4% to 3.6%. Yet during that same time frame, the price of gold has increased by approximately 15%. Stock down 40%, gold up 15%. Sounds like it might be worth taking a closer look.

Freeport trades at 11 times trailing earnings and 7.5 times forward earnings. It sports a golden yield of 3.6%, and pays its dividend quarterly. Earnings tanked by 48% for the latest quarter, with revenues dropping 23%.

Yamana Gold Inc. (AUY) is another gold stock that pays a decent dividend quarterly. The yield is 1.5%. The stock has a current price to earnings ratio of 20 and a forward PE of 11. The company was upgraded last month by HSBC Securities from Neutral to Overweight. Net earnings for the first quarter were $170.0 million or $0.23 per share on a basic and diluted basis which is an increase of 15% compared with net earnings of $148.2 million or basic and diluted earnings per share of $0.20 for the same quarter last year.

A couple of high yield gold stocks the pay semi-annually include Kinross Gold Corporation (KGC), sporting a yield of 2.1%, and Barrick Gold Corporation (ABX), yielding 2.4%.

Make a 2500 sq ft House in 20 Hours with a 3D Printer - Seriously!

Now I get it. Now I understand what the big deal is about 3D printing. When I first heard about it, I thought it was sort of a gimmicky technology for hobbyists to 'print' their own three dimensional toys. (I guess that's similar to the old days, when people thought the first Apple (AAPL) computer was just for nerds and geeks to play with.) But after watching this video, which is 12 minutes long by the way, but well worth watching, I now see the long term future potential of the 3D technology from a business standpoint.

The video features University of Southern California engineering professor, Behrokh Khoshnevis, who shows how houses can be built with a large scale 3D printer in only 20 hours. He calls it Contour Crafting. He also talks about the numerous benefits of using this technique beyond just the cost savings for the construction business. There are many social benefits also. The walls that are created are structurally more sound than conventional walls, there are less CO2 emissions generated, less waste, less inefficiency, reduction of construction accidents, and elimination of slums. He believes that the 3D construction industry can create more jobs, offsetting building jobs that would be eliminated. 3D houses can even be all different in a neighborhood, avoiding the tract housing look, by just making a choice in the software.

I guess if we see KB Home (KBH), Lennar Corp. (LEN), or PulteGroup, Inc. (PHM) start to use one of these 3D homebuilding printers, then we will know that 3D is here to stay.

There are a couple of 3D printing stocks that are available to investors, according to the free list at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com. 3D Systems Corporation (DDD), a Rock Hill, South Carolina based company, makes and sells 3D printers and related products. The company recently implemented its Cubify.com 3D @home experience, which allows sharing printable content and has intuitive apps to modify and print creations, along with a Kinect-to-print app powered by Geomagic and many tablet-to-print content creation and manipulation apps are being showcased.

3D Systems, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange, has been around since 1986. The stock trades at 69 times current earnings and 30 times forward earnings. Earnings for the latest quarter were down 37.8%, however, the company had a 51.7% boost in revenues. The company has $158 million in cash and about $140 million in total debt.

Another 3D printer business is Stratasys, Inc. (SSYS), which produces three-dimensional printers, rapid prototyping systems, and related consumable materials. This Minnesota based company was founded in 1989. Latest quarterly earnings tanked by 24.4%, but revenues were boosted by 31.6%. The company is debt free and has $51 million in cash. The stock trades at 76 times trailing earnings and 42 times forward earnings.

Of course you need software to run the 3D printers. Autodesk, Inc. (ADSK) makes 3D software for many different industries, everything from entertainment to architecture to manufacturing. The stock has a price to earnings ratio of 28 and a forward PE of 15, is debt free, and has $1.5 billion dollars in the bank.

For a free list of the companies involved in 3D printing, which can be downloaded, sorted, and updated, go to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.

Stocks Going Ex Dividend the Third Week of August 2012

Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the market capitalization, the ex-dividend date and the yield.

Dividend definitions:

Declaration date: the day that the company declares that there is going to be an upcoming dividend.

Ex-dividend date: the day on which if you buy the stock, you would not be entitled to that particular dividend; or the first day on which a shareholder can sell the shares and still be entitled to the dividend.

Monthly Dividend Stock List

Record date: the day when you must be on the company's books as a shareholder to receive the dividend. The ex-dividend date is normally set for stocks two business days before the record date.

Payment date: the day on which the dividend payment is actually made, which can be as long at two months after the ex date.

Don't forget to reconfirm the ex-dividend date with the company before implementing this technique.

Why Starbucks is a Death Stock

Death stocks are companies involved in the business of cemeteries, cremation, coffins, funeral parlors, and headstones. So what is the connection that Starbucks (SBUX) has with this industry? The company is putting one of its gourmet coffee shops in a funeral home! The Robinson Funeral Home in Easley, South Carolina plans to open a Starbucks in its facilities during the month of August. This gives a whole new meaning to the term 'Waking the dead.'
But seriously, this is an industry that won't go away, the 'inevitable death and taxes' situation. There are many plays in this sector, and according to the free list at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there are ten companies in the death business. For example, Matthews International (MATW) is in the business of memorialization products for cemeteries. The company produces manufactures cast bronze and granite memorials, cast and etched architectural products, mausoleums, and wood and metal caskets. The stock trades at 13.3 times present earnings and 11.5 times future earnings. It sports a yield of 1.2%.
Service Corporation International (SCI) is the largest funeral service company by market cap. The company also owns cemeteries and crematoria, and even sell s caskets. The company pays a decent yield of 1.9%, and trades at 16.3 times forward earnings.
Hillenbrand (HI) is the largest publicly traded casket manufacturer, which also makes cremation caskets, containers, vaults, and urns. The forward price to earnings ratio is 9.4, and the yield is a generous 4.4%.

All the Physics British Honda Commercial

According to info I got from the Internet:

If you thought that the people who set up a room full of dominoes to have them knocked over later was amazing, you haven't seen any-thing yet. This is the new Honda commercial in the UK . Very important that you understand: There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in these images. Everything that you see happened in real time exactly as you see it.

The recording required 606 takes and in the first 605 takes there always was something, usually of minor importance, that didn't work. It was necessary for the recording team to install the set-up time after time and it took several weeks working day and night to achieve this effect. The recording cost 6 million dollars and it took 3 months to finish.

The duration of the video is only 2 minutes, but every time that Honda (HMC) shows the commercial on British television, they make enough money to support any of us for the rest of our lives. However, this commercial has turned out to be the most displayed in the history of the Internet. Honda execs think that it will pay for itself simply because of the free showings. There are only six Honda Accords built by hand in the whole world, and to the horror of Honda engineers, the recording team dis-assembled two of them for the recording.

Everything you see in the sequence (besides the walls, floor, ramp and the untouched Honda Accord) is part of those two automobiles. The voice is that of Garrison Keiller. The commercial was so well received by Honda execs when they saw it, that their first comment was how amazing the computer graphics were. They almost fell out of their chairs when told that the recording was real without any graphics manipulation. By the way, about the windshield wipers in the new Honda Accords, they are sensitive to water and designed to start working as soon as they get wet.
