Stocks Going Ex Dividend April 2020

Please note that this is a sister publication of WallStreetNewsNetwork ( https://WStNN.com ) and eventually everything on this site will be transferred over there.

Special Note: I normally don’t recommend the buying dividend technique during bear markets, which we are currently in. However, opportunities occasionally crop up. An example would be Vail Resorts (MTN) which went ex dividend on March 25, paying a dividend of $1.76 per share. You could have bought the stock the day before on March 24 for 142 per share and sold it the next day, the ex dividend day, for 152 per share, making a $10 per share profit on the stock and capturing the $1.76 per share dividend. (The stock actually traded as high as 163 on the ex dividend day.) I consider this a rare situation, especially in this market, so I still don’t recommend this strategy at this time.
The following is a short list of some of the many stocks going ex dividend during the next month.
Many traders and investors use the stock trading technique called ‘Buying Dividends,’ also commonly referred to as ‘Dividend Capture.’ This is the strategy of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend.
This technique generally works in bull markets and flat or choppy markets, but you need to avoid the strategy during bear markets. In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can’t sell the stock until after the ex date.
The actual dividend may not be paid for another few weeks. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable and sortable list of the stocks going ex dividend in the near future. The list contains many dividend paying companies, lots with market caps over $500 million, and many with yields over 2%. Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the ex-dividend date, the periodic dividend amount.
American Express Company (AXP)4/2/20200.431.91%
General Mills, Inc. (GIS)4/8/20200.494.11%
WD-40 Company (WDFC)4/16/20200.671.48%
Clorox Company (CLX)4/21/20201.062.45%
Hasbro, Inc. (HAS)4/30/20200.683.98%

Dividend definitions:
Declaration date: the day that the company declares that there is going to be an upcoming dividend.
Ex-dividend date: the day on which if you buy the stock, you would not be entitled to that particular dividend; or the first day on which a shareholder can sell the shares and still be entitled to the dividend.
Record date: the day when you must be on the company’s books as a shareholder to receive the dividend. The ex-dividend date is normally set for stocks at two business days before the record date.
Payment date: the day on which the dividend payment is actually made, which can be as long at two months after the ex date.
Don’t forget to reconfirm the ex-dividend date with the company before implementing this technique.

Warren Buffett Sold 750,000 Shares of Apple, But It’s Still His Largest Holding

Please note that this is a sister publication of WallStreetNewsNetwork ( http://WStNN.com ) and eventually everything on this site will be transferred over there.

by Fred Fuld III
Famous investor and multi-billionaire Warren Buffett has sold over 750,000 shares of Apple (AAPL) during the latest reported quarter, however it is still the largest holding in his Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA) (BRKB) stock portfolio.
As a matter of fact, Apple makes up 26% of the Berkshire portfolio. He probably didn’t want to get too overweighted in the stock. He first started buying Apple shares near the beginning of 2016 at an average cost of about 150 per share.
Buffett also dumped shares of another stock, Wells Fargo (WFC). He liquidated over 31 million shares of the company, so now the stock makes up less than 9% of the Berkshire portfolio.
The Oracle of Omaha made no changes to the second and third largest holdings, Bank of America (BAC), and Coca-Cola (KO). Same with the fifth largest, American Express (AXP).
It is interesting to note that the above five mentioned stocks make up over 65% of the total Berkshire Hathaway stock portfolio.
If you want to see a list of all the stocks in Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway stock portfolio, you can go to the following link:

The Stocks that Warren Buffett has been Buying

Warren Buffett, the Chairman & CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA), is probably the most well known investor in the world. Many investors like to piggyback off of his investments, in order to match his great returns.
Well, it's that time of year when Berkshire Hathaway reports its holdings on Form 13F to the Securities & Exchange Commission. The company filed its form today, dated February 14, 2017.
The most interesting part of the filing are the stocks that Buffett has added to the Berkshire portfolio.
First, one of his new positions is Southwest Airlines (LUV), acquiring 43,195,053 shares.
Buffett also added to his positions in other airlines, such as Delta Air Lines (DAL), increasing the position almost ten fold  from 6,333,923 to 60,025,995.
Another airline he likes is United Continental (UAL) where holdings have gone up by 24,418,340 shares, from 4,533,013 to 28,951,353.
In the tech area, Buffett likes Apple (AAPL). The Berkshire holdings went up from 15,227,702 shares to 57,359,652 shares.
Holdings also rose in American Express (AXP) and Bank of New York (BK).
You have to admit that Warren Buffett has an outstanding track record. Following in his footsteps may be a strategy worth considering.
Disclosure: Author owns AAPL.

Warren Buffett's 5 Largest Stock Holdings

Want to be a successful investor? Then maybe you should follow in the footsteps of the top successful investor and billionaire, Warren Buffett. Top money managers come and go but Buffett and his company, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) have stood the test of time. That's how he became the richest, second richest, and third richest man in the world, depending on what day it is. (He takes turns with Bill Gates and Carlos Slim.)

So there are a couple ways of doing what Buffett does.

1. You can buy Berkshire stock, if you want to pay $193,600 per share.

2. You can buy the B Shares of Berkshire (BRK-B) which are trading around $129 per share.

3. You can look at Buffett's holdings and pick and choose what you think are his best holdings.

4. Or last but not least, and the easiest way, instead of second guessing Warren, is to just invest in his five largest holdings.

So what are the 'big five'?

Wells Fargo (WFC)
Berkshire owns $23 billion of this stock

Coca Cola (KO)
$15.4 billion ownership or 14.6% of the company's outstanding shares

American Express (AXP)
$13.6 billion ownership or 12.9%

IBM (IBM)
$13 billion ownership or 12.1%

Wal-Mart (WMT)
$4.4 billion ownership or 4.2%

Now you know how to invest like a billionaire.

Warren Buffett's Top 3 Stocks

The head of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A), Warren Buffett, is one of the three richest men in the world, in competition on a regular basis with Bill Gates and Carlos Slim. Buffett made his wealth the old fashion way, from investing. He has had a stellar long term performance with his investment portfolio, that many investors try to emulate.

Berkshire Hathaway currently has over 40 stocks in its portfolio, according to the free list of Warren Buffett stocks at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com. One way to tell what stocks Buffett likes best in his portfolio is to look at his largest holdings.

Buffett has investedover $20 billion in Wells Fargo (WFC), making up 20% of the Berkshire portfolio.  Wells trades at 12 times trailing earnings, and 11 times forward earnings. Net earnings for the latest quarter rose 10.2% on a 0.9% rise in revenues. The stock pays a yield of 2.5%, a lot more than what they pay on their savings accounts.

Buffett's second largest holding is Coca Cola (KO), with $16.5 billion invested at 15.7% of the portfolio. Coke trades at 20 times earnings with a forward price to earnings ratio of 17. Earnings dropped for the latest quarter, down 8.4%. The company has a dividend payout rate of 3.2%.

In third place is American Express (AXP). This credit card and travel company has a PE of 19, and forward PE of 15. Earnings for the latest quarter jumped by an amazing 105%, on a 6.9% revenue increase. The yield is 1.0%.
