Stocks Going Ex Dividend in June of 2024

Please note that this is a sister publication of WallStreetNewsNetwork ( https://WStNN.com ) and postings will end on this site shortly. Please go to https://WStNN.com for all future posts.

The following is a short list of some of the many stocks going ex-dividend during the next month, which can be helpful for traders and investors interested in the stock trading technique known as “Buying Dividends” or “Dividend Capture.” This strategy involves purchasing stocks before the ex dividend date and selling them shortly after the ex-date at a similar price, while still being eligible to receive the dividend payment.

Although this technique generally proves effective in bull markets and flat or choppy markets, it is advisable to exercise caution and consider avoiding this strategy during bear markets. To qualify for the dividend, it is necessary to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date and refrain from selling it until on or after the ex-date.

However, it is important to note that the actual dividend may not be paid for several weeks, as the payment date can be delayed by up to two months after the ex-date.

For investors seeking a comprehensive list of stocks going ex-dividend in the near future, WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable list containing numerous dividend-paying companies. Here are a few examples showcasing the stock symbol, ex-dividend date, periodic dividend amount, and annual yield.

Dividend Definitions

To better understand the dividend-related terms, let’s define them:

Declaration date: This refers to the day when a company announces its intention to distribute a dividend in the future.
Ex-dividend date: On this day, if you purchase the stock, you would not be eligible to receive the upcoming dividend. It is also the first day on which a shareholder can sell their shares and still receive the dividend.
Record date: This marks the day when you must be recorded on the company’s books as a shareholder to qualify for the dividend. Typically, the ex-dividend date is set two business days prior to the record date.
Payment date: This is the day on which the dividend payment is actually made to the eligible shareholders. It’s important to note that the payment date can be as long as two months after the ex-date.

Before implementing the “Buying Dividends” technique, it is crucial to reconfirm the ex-dividend date with the respective company to ensure accuracy and avoid any unexpected changes.

In conclusion, being aware of the stocks going ex-dividend can be advantageous for traders and investors employing the “Buying Dividends” strategy. The Stocks that Warren Buffett has been Buying

Warren Buffett, the Chairman & CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA), is probably the most well known investor in the world. Many investors like to piggyback off of his investments, in order to match his great returns.
Well, it's that time of year when Berkshire Hathaway reports its holdings on Form 13F to the Securities & Exchange Commission. The company filed its form today, dated February 14, 2017.
The most interesting part of the filing are the stocks that Buffett has added to the Berkshire portfolio.
First, one of his new positions is Southwest Airlines (LUV), acquiring 43,195,053 shares.
Buffett also added to his positions in other airlines, such as Delta Air Lines (DAL), increasing the position almost ten fold  from 6,333,923 to 60,025,995.
Another airline he likes is United Continental (UAL) where holdings have gone up by 24,418,340 shares, from 4,533,013 to 28,951,353.
In the tech area, Buffett likes Apple (AAPL). The Berkshire holdings went up from 15,227,702 shares to 57,359,652 shares.
Holdings also rose in American Express (AXP) and Bank of New York (BK).
You have to admit that Warren Buffett has an outstanding track record. Following in his footsteps may be a strategy worth considering.

Airlines Generating Top Revenues from Fees: Top Airline Stocks

A fee for printing out your boarding pass? Gimme a break. But the airlines are happy about it, along with all the other fees they are charging, like seat upgrade fees and the ever-popular baggage fees. These fees generate what is called 'ancillary revenue' which may amount to $42.6 billion this year, according to a new study. This could be a huge 18% over last year.

So if the airlines are making money, how about investors? They can participate by choosing from over two dozen airline stocks, according to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, and more than half a dozen of which pay dividends.

Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) just reported a great earnings increase of 30.8% on a 5.7% increase in revenues. The company is doing what it can to boost those revenues by adding additional New York Los Angeles flights with full flat-bed seats, along with flights to Seattle and San Francisco. The stock trades at 10.9 times trailing earnings and 8.8% times forward earnings, with a great price to earnings ratio of 0.39. It is even one of the dividend payers, generating a yield of 0.9%, based on an annualized payment of six cents per quarter.

Another dividend payer is Alaska Air Group, Inc. (ALK), which generates a yield of 1.1%. The stock trades at 10.6 times earnings, with a forward price to earnings ratio of 11.1, and a PEG ratio of 0.93. Earnings for the latest quarter skyrocketed 76.9% with sales spiking 22.4%.

Southwest Airlines (LUV) has a PE ratio of 20, and a forward PE of 14. The PEG is a very favorable 0.43, and the yield is 0.9%.

For a free list of over 25 airline stocks, which includes the PE ratio, the forward PE, the PEG, and the yield, go to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.

Will Airline Stocks Fly High?

Have you benn on a plane flight recently? I've been on several plane flights over the last year and one thing I have noticed is that the plane is always full. Always! Not one extra seat available. And this is on a few different airlines, Delta (DAL), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KLMR), and JetBlue (JBLU). I remember years ago, taking flights on PSA with only eight people on the plane. There were almost as many airline staff workers (pilots and flight attendants) as there were passengers.

Now airlines have their act together, and are able to fill every seat. Any empty seat is less revenue, and if they can fill those seats, even at very discounted prices, it's additional revenue. When you consider all the flights of an airline in a day, and multiply those flights times 365 days, the revenue can add up.

With the merger of the American Airlines holding company, AMR (AAMRQ) and US Airways (LCC), it will mean less competition. And of course with crude oil dropping in price to $88 per barrel from over $105 a barrel a year ago, fuel costs for the airlines have been kept in check.

So what's an investor to do who is looking for a high flyer? According to the free list of airline stocks at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there are over 25 airlines to choose from, with a half dozen paying dividends.

Let's take a look at Alaska Air Group (ALK), which provides flights to the western United States, Canada, and Mexico. The stock trades at 13.7 times trailing earnings and 9.5 times forward earnings. Revenues for the latest quarter at year end were up 8.4%, however earnings dropped 31.3%. The company's next earnings announcement is scheduled for April 25. The company carries over a billion dollars in debt, but it does have $1.25 billion in cash.

The Latin American airline company, Copa Holdings SA (CPA), is doing well. Based out of Panama City, Panama, it flies to 64 destinations in 29 countries in North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The stock has a trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 16.4 and a forward PE of 10.9. Revenues were up by a strong 19.4%, but earnings dropped for the latest quarter by 17%. Next announcement is May 6. This is one of the few companies that pays a dividend with a Certificate of Deposit beating yield of 1.9%.

Southwest Airlines (LUV) is another dividend payer, with a small yield of 0.3%. The stock trades at 23.8 times current earnings and 11.1 times forward earnings. Next earnings announcement is April 25.

Top Airline Stocks

During the last month, airline stocks have outperformed the Standard & Poor's 500. The Dow Jones U.S. Airlines Index was up 5.5% versus 4.5% for the S&P 500. This in spite of the recent news about pilot and flight attendant meltdowns, which you think might scare off a few passengers.

However, if the economy has hit bottom and is starting to to turn around, it might be worth taking a flier on airline stocks, as they may take off. According to the free list at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there are about twenty airline stocks, several of which pay dividends. Not all of them are in great financial shape, and you may have to look outside the United States for the better quality airline companies.

For example, Lan Airlines (LFL) is a Chile based airline that provides passenger and cargo air transportation services. The company has over 120 passenger planes and offers its primary services in Chile, Peru, Argentina, Colombia, and Ecuador. The stock trades at 20.5 times forward earnings and pays a yield of 2.3%. Revenues for the latest reported quarter were up 19.3%, however, earnings dropped 31.6%.

Domestically, there is the Dallas, Texas based Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV), which operates about 700 aircraft throughout the United States. The stock has a forward price to earnings ratio of 8.2 and even pays a small dividend of 0.2%. Quarterly earnings wer up 16% on a 32% boost in revenues.

For a free list of approximately 20 airline stocks which includes information about the price-to-earnings ratios and yields, go to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.
