Stocks Going Ex Dividend the Third Week of February

Here is our latest update on the stock trading technique called 'Buying Dividends,' also commonly referred to as 'Dividend Capture.' This is the process of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend. This technique generally works only in bull markets, and can work in flat or choppy markets, but you need to avoid the technique during bear markets.

In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can't sell the stock until after the ex date. The actual dividend may not be paid for another few weeks. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable and sortable list of the stocks going ex dividend in the near future. The list contains many dividend paying companies, lots with market caps over $500 million, and yields over 2%. Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the ex-dividend date, and the yield.

Gladstone Land Corporation LAND 2/16/2016 19.02%
Microsoft MSFT 2/16/2016 2.76%

Top Yield Technology Stocks: A Contrarian Play

Income investors looking to diversify their portfolio beyond utilities, REITs, and oil income trusts, may want to consider gradually allocating funds towards high yield technology stocks. Tech has dropped fairly significantly during the last month, with the SPDR Morgan Stanley Technology (MTK) ETF dropping over 9.5% during this time frame.

One of the larger firms that pays a decent dividend is the integrated circuit manufacturer Intel Corporation (INTC), yielding 3.4% payable quarterly. The stock trades at 8.9 times forward earnings. Earnings were up 29.4% on a 24.7% increase in revenues for the latest quarter.

Maxim Integrated Products Inc. (MXIM) is another high yield quarterly dividend payer, yielding 3.5%. This maker of linear and mixed-signal integrated circuits has a forward price to earnings ratio of 13.1. Revenues for the latest quarter were 19.2% year over year.

On other high dividend tech stock is Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP), which makes and markets semiconductor products. The yield is a generous 3.9%, payable quarterly and the forward PE is 13.6. Earnings for the latest quarter were up an amazing 65.7% on a 36.7% rise in revenues.

The above excludes the telecommunication stocks, which although are considered to be part of the tech sector, is basically a different industry from other technology companies. The telecoms also pay very high yields. For a free downloadable list of high yield telecom stocks, which can be sorted and updated, go to WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.

Top Yielding Tech Stocks

The Apple (AAPL) iPad has been released, generating a huge buying spree. Investors are looking for companies that may benefit from the popularity of the iPad, either iPad parts suppliers, apps makers, or other peripheral companies.

But it is not just the tech stocks wrapping around Apple that are doing well. Many tech stocks are on the move. Just look at the Technology Select Sector SPDR (XLK) ETF which is up almost 50% for the last 12 months. Some investors still want to get into technology, but want income to help protect them on the downside. Fortunately there are plenty of tech stocks that pay dividends, and four with yields over 4%.

EarthLink, Inc. (ELNK), the Internet access service provider, pays a yield of 6.6%. The company, which has a market cap of $925.9 million, has a forward price to earnings ratio of 12. Unfortunately, they have a very short term track record of quarterly dividend payments.

Pitney Bowes Inc. (PBI), the office equipment company, somewhat falls into the category of technology. The stock yields 6.0%, has a forward PE of 10, and has a market cap of $5.1 billion. The company has paid dividends since 1993.

Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) is in the business of manufacturing semiconductor products and pays a yield of 4.8%, with a forward PE of 18. This $5.3 billion market cap stock has paid dividends since 2002. The dividend was increased slightly for the latest quarter.

Maxim Integrated Products Inc. (MXIM) is also in the semiconductor business and has also paid dividends since 2002. The stock yields 4.1%, has a forward PE of 16, with a $6.0 billion market cap.

If you like high yield stocks, you should check out the list of high yield utility stocks, high yield tax free dividend stocks, and high yield monthly dividend stocks at WallStreetNewsNetwork.com.

No Debt High Yield Stocks

If you are a conservative investor, two things you always look for are a high dividend payout and a solid balance sheet. There are plenty of high yield stocks out there, but not all of them are in good financial shape. However, if you can find a high yield stock that has no debt, then you have a good starting point for finding gems. There are over 15 stocks that WallStreetNewsNetwork.com came up with that have market caps over $500 million, yields above 4%, and are debt free.

One example is Paychex, Inc. (PAYX) which yields 4.4%. This is the payroll, human resource, and benefits outsourcing company.

Another is Healthcare Services Group, Inc. (HCSG) which pays 4.2%. The company is a provider of housekeeping, laundry, linen, and food services to nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals.

High Cash + No Debt + High Yield = Bargains

The cable and telecom company, Charter Communications Inc. (CHTR), just filed for bankruptcy, primarily due to their huge debt load. When you hear these stories, you realize how important it is to find stocks that are debt free if you are looking for more safer and secure companies to invest in. In addition, if the stock has a lot of cash, that adds to the level of safety. And if you can find stocks that meet both of these criteria, and the stock also pays a dividend, then maybe it is a stock worth buying.

WallStreetNewsNetwork.com recently uploaded its downloadable Excel database called High Cash No Debt High Yield Stock List. It lists over 30 companies that have a lot of cash, are debt free, and pay decent yields. Over a dozen have yields in excess of 4%. Here are a few examples, all of which have market caps over $1 billion and have no debt.
