With the number of baby boomers increasing like crazy, researchers are looking for fountain of youth type drugs to expand lifespan and make us healthier as we age. Scientists are experimenting with S6K1 protein blockers, metformin, AMPK activators, rapamycin, and resveratrol.
Resveratrol is found naturally in Japanese knotweed, red wine, skin of red grapes, mulberries, and even peanuts. It is now a hot selling nutritional supplement. Sirtris Pharmaceuticals is one of the companies that is involved in resveratrol clinical trials with diabetes patients, liver cancer patients and colon cancer patients. They are also major producers of resveratrol.
Sirtris used to be a publicly traded company but was scooped up last year by the British firm, GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK). GSK has a forward PE of 10 and pays a yield of 4.7%. The company has $9 billion in cash with $12 billion in operating cash flow.
