Stocks Going Ex Dividend in June 2019

Please note that this is a sister publication of WallStreetNewsNetwork ( http://WStNN.com ) and eventually everything on this site will be transferred over there.

by Fred Fuld III
The following is a short list of some of the many stocks going ex dividend during the next month.
Many traders and investors use the stock trading technique called ‘Buying Dividends,’ also commonly referred to as ‘Dividend Capture.’ This is the strategy of buying stocks before the ex dividend date and selling the stock shortly after the ex date at about the same price, yet still being entitled to the dividend.
This technique generally works in bull markets and flat or choppy markets, but you need to avoid the strategy during bear markets. In order to be entitled to the dividend, you have to buy the stock before the ex-dividend date, and you can’t sell the stock until after the ex date.
The actual dividend may not be paid for another few weeks. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has compiled a downloadable and sortable list of the stocks going ex dividend in the near future. The list contains many dividend paying companies, lots with market caps over $500 million, and many with yields over 2%. Here are a few examples showing the stock symbol, the ex-dividend date, the periodic dividend amount, and annual yield.
Cedar Fair, L.P. (FUN)6/3/20190.9257.16%

The additional ex-dividend stocks can be found HERE . (If you have been to the page before, and the latest link doesn’t show up, you may have to empty your cache.) If you like dividend stocks, you should check out some of the other high yield stock lists HERE . Most of the lists are free.
Dividend definitions:
Declaration date: the day that the company declares that there is going to be an upcoming dividend.
Ex-dividend date: the day on which if you buy the stock, you would not be entitled to that particular dividend; or the first day on which a shareholder can sell the shares and still be entitled to the dividend.
Record date: the day when you must be on the company’s books as a shareholder to receive the dividend. The ex-dividend date is normally set for stocks at two business days before the record date.
Payment date: the day on which the dividend payment is actually made, which can be as long at two months after the ex date.
Don’t forget to reconfirm the ex-dividend date with the company before implementing this technique.

How to Invest in the Olympics

The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro had its opening ceremony yesterday, August 5, 2016, and will run until August 21. There will be over 207 nations participating with more than 10,000 athletes. The United States has already received its first gold medal for the women's 10-meter air rifle event.

In 2008, the Summer Olympics had the largest global viewership, and the highest peak viewer share in the world of any television broadcast. With that track record, if 2016 comes even close to that, it will been a boon to the companies connected with the Olympics.

Investors that are looking for a way to play the Olympics have several companies that they can choose from.

First, you have the airlines. United (UAL) is the official airline of the Olympics. LATAM Airlines (LFL ) serves the South American market and will be bringing a large number of passengers to Rio.

In terms of clothing and apparel, there is Ralph Lauren (RL) which made the Olympic outfits. Nike (NKE) is a proud sponsor, and we will be seeing many Nike shoes in several events. Under Armour (UA) is not an official sponsor but has made the uniforms for the US gymnastics teams, and should benefit from the publicity. Finally, there is Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS), which markets various types of athletic apparel and exercise equipment. It is an official sponsor.

Next there is the media. The Olympics are being broadcast on the NBC television network, which is owned by Comcast (CMCSA). Media General (MEG) will have the Olympics aired on 13 of its NBC affiliates.

Last but not least is Visa (V), an official sponsor, which is handling the Olympic payment system.

Hopefully, some of these stocks can provide a gold medal for your portfolio.

Innovations in the Apparel Industry: Top Clothing Stocks

Many innovations are taking place in the apparel industry. For example, Chinese designers are using 3D fitting systems. Amazon (AMZN) just built a 40,000-square-foot photo and video studio for its Fashion group. And more clothing retailers are now starting to target plus-size buyers.

There are numerous stocks in the clothing and apparel field, several of which pay dividends, according to the free list at WallStreetNewNetwork.com. An example is Hanesbrands Inc. (HBI), which sells underwear to hosiery to bras. The brands include Hanes, Champion, Playtex, Just My Size, L’eggs, Wonderbra, and Zorba. The stock trades at 17.8 times trailing earnings and 14.8 times future earnings. The price to earnings growth ratio is a reasonable 1.15, and the stock sports a yield of 1.3%. Recently announced earnings showed an increase of 14% on relatively flat revenues.

Ralph Lauren Corporation (RL) pays a yield of 1.0%. It markets various apparel products including men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, footwear, and eyewear. The stock has a price to earnings ratio of 20.9 and a forward PE of 16.5. The PEG ratio is 1.65.

Oxford Industries (OXM)  designs, and distributes apparel products through four primary groups: Tommy Bahama, Lilly Pulitzer, Lanier Clothes, and Ben Sherman. Brands include Kenneth Cole, Dockers, and Geoffrey Beene. The stock has a fairly high PE at 31.4 and a forward PE of 19.9. The stock yields 1.0%.

Columbia Sportswear Company (COLM), which designs, produces, and sells outdoor apparel and footwear, yields 1.4%.

Supermodel Gisele Stock Index Still Outperforms

Gisele Bunchen, the wife of football star Tom Brady, is the world's top earning supermodel, according to Forbes.

Gisele, who receives most of her income in euros and Brazilian reals, is a celebrity endorser and spokesperson for numerous products of many publicly traded companies. Back in 2007, I examined these companies and built them into the form of a stock index, in order to compare Gisele's stocks with the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

The following graph shows the return for both from last year.

If you look at the returns from January 2011 to today, the Dow is up 11.2%, yet the Gisele Stock Index is up an incredible 25.7%. This return excludes Apple (AAPL), which used to be part of the index because Gisele Bundchen appeared on the 'Get a Mac' advertisements to promote the new line of Macintosh's a few years ago. If Apple was still in the index, her return would be even higher.

A selection of the stocks in her index include:

Volkswagon (VLKAY.PK) TV commercial spokesperson

Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. (RL) Advertising campaign face for Ralph Lauren, owned by Polo Ralph Lauren Corp.

Vivo Participacoes (VIV) Celebrity endorsement - largest mobile phone service provider in Brazil and in South America

News Corp. (NWSA) Starred in the comedy, Taxi, in her movie debut, and The Devil Wears Prada, both produced by 20th Century Fox, a division of News Corp.

Procter & Gamble (PG) Celebrity endorsement, increased Pantene's sale in Brazil by 40%.

Disney (DIS) Celebrity endorsement - appeared in the 'Year of a Million Dreams' celebration photoshoot

Supermodel Stock Index Update: Celebrity Models Outperform the Dow

Two top modeling celebrities, Gisele Bündchen and Heidi Klum, both of which had celebrity stock indexes created by Stockerblog.com, have had their indexes updated and compared to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The one thing that these women have in common, other than the fact that they are wealthy, successful supermodels, is that both of their indexes have outperformed the Dow over the last two and a half years.

Their indexes are based on the companies that they are connected to in some way, such as acting as celebrity spokesperson. Since January of 2007, the Gisele Bündchen's index was down 6.7% and the Heidi Klum's index was up 1.1%, and both were significantly better than the return on the Dow which was down 26.1%. The stocks in their indices are as follows:

Gisele Bundchen
Volkswagon (VLKAY.PK)
Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. (RL)
Vivo Participacoes (VIV)
News Corp. (NWSA)
Sony (SNE)
Procter & Gamble (PG)

McDonalds (MCD)
Volkswagon (VLKAY.PK)

Supermodel Gisele Still Outperforms the Dow Jones Industrial Average

Gisele Bündchen, who was named by Forbes Magazine as the top earning supermodel and Guinness World Records said that she is now the richest supermodel in the world. In 2007, I developed the Gisele Bundchen Stock Index, which contained the stocks of companies that Gisele is connected with, such as being the celebrity spokesperson. At the time, her index was outperforming the stock market. I have updated the index to the present time, and noticed that Gisele has continued to outperform the Dow Jones Industrial Average significantly.

The stocks in her portfolio include:
Volkswagon (VLKAY.PK)
Polo Ralph Lauren Corp. (RL)
Vivo Participacoes (VIV)
News Corp. (NWS-A)
Sony (SNE)
Procter & Gamble (PG)
Disney (DIS)

Although the Gisele Index was down by 15.7% since the beginning of 2007 to the present, it far outperformed the Dow Jones Industrial Average which was down over 30% during that same time frame.

Other celebrity stock indexes you may be interested in include the Heidi Klum Stock Index, the Eva Longoria Stock Index, the Angelina Jolie Stock Index, the Jessica Alba Stock Index, the Nicole Kidman Stock Index, the Freida Pinto Stock Index, and the Supermodels Stock Indices.

Assumptions:
This is a price-weighted index, similar to the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
